The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) or Awami Action Committee has decided to start the protest on the 29th of September 2025. Why Joint Awami Action Committee Protesting

The current waves of protests that had been started almost 2 years before in Azad Kashmir is based on basic rights. These protests are started by the people from across the AJK. Moreover, these protests are also headed by the local leaders and not by any political leaders.

Furthermore, a broadly publicised call for a one-day lockdown and mass demonstrations across Pakistan-administered Kashmir on 29 September 2025 has sharply raised tensions between protest organisers and the AJK government. The event follows failed talks and weeks of mobilization by civil society groups and political activists demanding sweeping political and administrative reforms, making the coming day a focal point for grievances that have been building for months. So, the people of Kashmir will demonstrate their power on 29th of Sep, 2025.

Major Demands of Joint Awami Action Committee AJK

The major demands of the Joint Awami Action Committee are more than 30. The primary demand of the Action Committee is to abolish the Mahajreen 12 seats in the Azad Kashmir Assembly. The elections for these seats are held in Pakistan, and Mohajreen living in Pakistan contest elections and reach to Azad Kashmir assembly.

Government Response & Deployment of Security Forces from Pakistan

The Government of Azad Kashmir has demanded police from Pakistan and deployed more than 2000 police security officials in major cities of Azad Kashmir, such as Mirpur Azad Kashmir, Bagh, and Muzaffrabad etc. Moreover, AJK authorities and federal-level officials have publicly warned against violent or disruptive acts, and state security forces have been mobilised in anticipation of the protests. Local administrations reportedly planned integrated measures road checks, deployments of police and federal constabulary personnel, and contingency plans to keep key services running with some official statements calling for restraint and offering that many demands had been “partially addressed” in talks.

Furthermore, on the other side, the Azad Kashmir High Court has emphasised that the state cannot lawfully bar peaceful protests — a legal point organisers cite while authorities stress maintaining public order. This judicial comment raises the legal stakes around how law enforcement responds on the ground.
