Captain Tahir Malik has been appointed as IGP of Police in Azad Kashmir. This appointment is made by the federal government in February 2020. Mr. Malik has replaced Irfan Abdul Jabbar, who was serving as the previous IGP of Azad Kashmir.
Mr. Malik was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Punjab Police when his appointment is made as IG Azad Kashmir. After assuming the charge, he issued a statement that the law and order situation and safety of public property and the protection of people’s lives is the primary priority of IG AJK. New Inspector General AJK
After assuming the charge as IG Azad Kashmir, Mr. Liyaqat Ali visited the IG office in Muzaffarabad and met with every official and officers at their their seat in IG office.
Moreover, previously upon arrival in IG office, senior officers received the IG with full colors. Further, after assuming the charge, Mr. Liyaqat Ali is paid tribute to the martyred of AJK Police and emphasize professionalism and respect for the force. In addition, the behaviour of Mr. Liyaqat Ali is very simple. Upon arrival in Kohala, the entry point of Azad Kashmir, Mr. Liyaqat Ali was traveling in plain clothes. In a social media video he was seen talking with the local police at entry point.
The police force at the checkpoint did not recognize the new IG. Public reaction is mix on the appointment of new Top officer of AJK Police. Mostly, the public reaction on the appointment of new IG is positive. It is due to the respect of the public. Another thing, here is the simple, humble, and down-to-earth personality of Mr. Liaqat Ali.
Moreover, on the other side, many people are questioning the appointment of new IG. They are of the view that appointment of new IG should be from AJK Domicile holder police officers.
AJK DIG Observations on New IG Appointment
The news are also circulating on social media that all the DIGs of Kashmir have met with the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir. They showed concerns regarding the appointment of new IG, that the new IG junior from all the DIGs of AJK Police. Therefore, it is unjust, but this report is not reported on any national media or issued by any government agency from AJK.
