Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) is the new authority that is established in the year 2025. The purpose of the enforcement authority is basically to control encroachment, overpricing and other related matters.
What is PERA?
PERA is the regulatory authority that is a move of Pakistan from the soft state to the hard state. Because in Pakistan there is minimum implementation of laws. Although, there is existance of rules, regulations and laws as well as constitutional backing. But still the implementation of laws is very weak.
In this scenario, PERA is introduced a new force to implement the laws for the Government of Punjab. To strengthen the writ of Punjab Government across Punjab.
Functions and Power of PERA:
PERA is a very powerful enforcement authority. The major functions of the enforcement authority punjab, are to control inflation and encroachment all over Punjab, Pakistan. For this purpose, enforcement centers at district levels have been established in all the province of Punjab.
First of all, the primary function that the basic motive to create this authority is to end encroachment from Punjab. Some goons have encroached on the land of innocent people in various parts of Punjab Province. So, in this situation, the establishment of such authority is the need of the hour. The CM Punjab has desired to establish this authority to facilitate the people in their routine life.

Legal Backing of Punjab Enforcement Authority
PERA has a legal backing, and there is proper law passed from the Provincial Assembly of Punjab to run this authority. On 11th of October 2024, the Punjab Assembly, Pakistan has approved a law with the name, “The Punjab Enforcement and Regulations Act 2024. Further, the Governor of Punjab has approved the act on 16th of October 2024.
Moreover, the authority will run under the umbrella of this act to perform its functions and duties. Further, all other major and minor functions of the authority will also be overseen under the umbrella of this act.
At Punjab Level Establishement
PERA is not only restricted up to Lahore. It is a Punjab level institute that is established to fix the writ of the government in different daily aspects of life. It will be a great move if it has worked in a systematic manner.
