The DoT (Department of Telecommunications) has issued various instructions to mobile sellers as well as to the importers of mobile phones regarding the installation of Sanchar Saathi in all phones they will sell or import in the future. These instructions are as follows:
- The vendors of mobile phones, either locally manufactured or imported, should ensure that the Sanchar Saathi Mobile App is pre-installed in all cell phones.
- Also, ensure that the pre-installed Sanchar Saathi Safety App is ready to use at the time of first use of the mobile by the users. Moreover, there should be no restrictions or disablement of any functions on this App.
- Furthermore, for all such other mobiles which are already in use, the manufacturer and seller of such mobile sets should make efforts to install this Sanchar Saathi App in the users’ mobile through mobile periodic updates.
- Lastly, the directions issued by DoT should be implemented within 90 days. Moreover, the final complinace report should be submitted in 120 days.
